With around one million inhabitants, Marseille is the second largest city in France in terms of population and the largest in terms of area. Its population is a real melting pot of different cultures and the city has a lot to offer. From colourful markets (like Noailles market) that will make you feel like you are in Africa, to the Calanques (a natural area of big cliffs falling into the sea – Calanque means fjord), from the Panier area (the oldest place in the town) to the Vieux-Port (old harbor) and the Corniche (a road along the sea) every inch of Marseille is worth exploring.
Marseille is also the birthplace of Flyboarding. You will find Zapata Racing Headquarters here and recently Pro Flyboarders from around the world came together as ‘Flyboard Family 2’ and participated in the newest Flyboard Family video shoot.
Among the flyers was pro Jordan Wayment of Rocky Mountain Flyboard. I think Jordan was pretty excited to be a part of this historic event and have a chance to hang out at ZR headquarters. I can’t wait to see the video, no doubt it will blow us away!
I also enjoy following the fun the Zapata family seem to always be having with Dad’s invention. Franky is always pushing the sport forward every time he’s on the board, Krystel rocks her pink Flyboard and now their son Matt has his own mini-Flyboard which it looks like he’s having a blast following (or flying) in his father’s footsteps. There were many reasons to want to visit such a beautiful city before but now Marseille will forever be known as the birthplace of Flyboarding and is definitely at the top of this Flyboarders list of places to visit soon.
