It was a true honor to finally get a chance to meet Franky Zapata, his team and watch him fly in person. After preparing for his next episode of ‘France Has Incredible Talent’ he took time to sit down with H2RO Magazine and gave his most extensive interview to date (30 minutes). He spoke about the very first days of the Flyboard, from concept to first flight, his new ‘Air’ Flyboard and the challenges that exist when bringing a new sport to the world.

Here are the questions I asked and when they appear in the video:
(Time: 00:30) #1) What was the very first thing you dreamt up that started you to think about the Flyboard and invent the Flyboard?
(Time: 10:23) #2) You had said earlier that the Flyboard that we all know was really just to prove that your original idea would work. When this new version of the Flyboard comes out how is going to affect the sport and the way people fly?
(Time: 16:33) #3) This is the second World Cup and now I’m starting to hear that a lot of countries are starting to talking about having their own national championships. What relationship would you like to see between the World Cup and these national championships?
(Time: 20:42) #4) I thought that by 2014 the Flyboard community should encourage you to participate as a competitor…. any chance?
(Time: 23:10) #5) We talk about the physics of the front flip and whether it can be done with the current Flyboard.
(Time: 23:34) #6) The Flyboard Family right now seems very supportive, it’s got a great community, on Facebook everybody is helping each other… but as that grows and becomes bigger and bigger and bigger it becomes harder to manage. What kind of things do you want to do to try and keep people connected to your company and you and engaged so you don’t loose some of that joy.
