Team PowerFly – 2015 XDubai Flyboard World Cup
One of the most exciting aspects of the evolution of Hydroflight Sports has been the creation of the first teams. Groups of dedicated athletes brought together and supported by visionary companies who allow them the opportunity to realize their full potential and compete at the highest level. It takes serious commitment both on and off the water to not only compete for a World Championship but to innovate and propel a new sport to its next level.
Introducing Team PowerFly for the 2015 Flyboard World Cup
PowerFly Products is proud to bring a team of seven skilled professional riders to the 2015 Flyboard World Cup in Dubai. With intense training and team comradery underway, the group is looking to take Dubai by storm and impress fellow riders and spectators with their skill set and diverse tricks. Team members are excited to showcase new tricks and combinations to the World.
PowerFly Products Worldwide team line up:
Kristen Smoyer: 33 year old Pro Female Rider from USA. Pre-selected participant after taking 3rd place in the 2015 North American Flyboard Championship, ranked 3rd in the world. Kristen has a background in competing in multiple athletic events including swimming, soccer, basketball and softball. At UMASS, Kristen played collegiate basketball, soccer, and softball. Kristen’s hard work and dedication has grown her into one of PowerFly’s key team leaders.
Gemma Weston: 29 year old Pro Female Rider from New Zealand. Video selected participant. Gemma is a trained professional stunt performer with an impressive background including roles in The Hobbit; Vikings; Spartacus; Coca Cola Olympic commercial; Yogi Bear; Neverland and Evil Dead. Gemma is a certified PADI dive master; 1st Dan Black belt in Tae Kwon Do and licensed Paraglider. A percentage of Gemma’s talent and high skill set was showcased in her selection video, we are excited to show Dubai her full potential.
Callon Burns: 28 year old Pro Rider from Bermuda. Pre-selected participant ranked 9th in the world. Callon has been competing for three years and has consistently placed in the top 16 amongst the pro riders. Callon is known for the staple pro rider move, the Sidewinder, which was debuted in the 2014 North American Flyboard Championship where he placed 3rd overall. Callon is a fierce contender with focus and determination. He is the only Pro Rider representing Bermuda.
Ronnie Feise: 33 year old Pro Rider from USA. Video selected participant. Ronnie has been competing for three years and is ranked 23rd in the world. Ronnie has an extensive background in martial arts where he coined the name, “The Punisher.” His fellow riders have adopted this name for him in flying due to his relentless style. Ronnie is the owner of HydroRockets.
Ben Merrell: 32 year old Pro Rider from USA. Video selected participant. Ben has been competing for three years and is ranked 5th in the world. Ben achieved his highest competitive result in the 2013 Flyboard World Cup finishing in 3rd place. Ben is an icon in the hydrosports world and seeks to continue to impress. Ben’s foundation with the US Army, Operation Enduring Freedom, rooted his hard work ethic and determination. Ben is the owner of PowerUp Watersports.
Mark Baxter: 52 year old Veteran from USA. Video selected participant. Mark has always supported teams in the jet ski industry leading 8 IJSBA Freestyle World Champions to victory and obtaining the world title. His leadership skills and impressive background with companies like Polaris, OMC and his service in the Marine Force Recon makes him a motivated team leader. Mark is the owner of PowerFly Products.
Megan Malone: 21 year old Pro Female Rider from USA. Video selected participant. Megan has competed in sports her entire life, including basketball, softball, soccer, track and motorcycles. She was introduced to Flyboarding four months ago by her fellow teammates Ronnie and Callon. She has a fun and unique style that she is excited to showcase in Dubai.
Nellie Kubalek: Nellie is a pre-qualified participant who took 2nd place in the 2015 North American Flyboard Championship. She is contracted in China performing daily shows at Chimelong Ocean Kingdom, therefore, unable to compete this year.
Max Miller: 22 year old male from USA. He is part of the team and training with his sights set on competing in 2016.
