Martinique, located in the Caribbean Sea, is the perfect mix of Europe and Africa. It is a nation of incredible beaches, awe inspiring mountains and rugged beauty combining to make for a very romantic environment. It is 450 km off of South America and 700 km southeast of the Dominican Republic, between Saint Lucia and Dominica. Martinique measures 1080 square kilometers, 60 km of length and 27 km of width.
A small island with a big heart…. and we bet these ladies could rock a Flyboard. Recently Flyboard inventor Franky Zapata, Alexander Maravegias (A top US rider) and Patrick Esnard (Guadeloupe) took to the water off of Martinique and put on a show in full super-hero fashion. Franky lit up in blue and Alexander and Patrick in red flashed through the night sky at times seeming to melt into the cityscape only to reappear with each huge trick.
I asked Alexander to tell me a bit about the show. Here’s what he had to say:
The show in Martinique was a blast. I was with Stephane Denis who is the flyboard show manager along with Thomas who set up the projection and music. Then it was me, Franky and Patrick Esnard from Flyboard Caribbean who were flying in the show. We set up a jet ski in the middle of the show area then projected a video on a wall of water that was created just like in Qatar. During lunch we went over some choreography after we got done testing the skis. There was some kind of event going on at the time so during the show we had to have had some 2500 people out there which is amazing to see from thirty feet in the air all watching you. The crowd loved it as they always do and we had a great success with the show!!
