Why will I Flyboard Forever?
I’ve had some special moments in my life. I’ve performed on stage in front of capacity audiences with my bands, been filled with love and excitement when by my sons Ryland and Reid were born and made the happiest man alive the day my beautiful wife and I were married. I’ve also sat alone, at my kitchen table, reading a buried article on some random website about ‘Franky’s crazy new invention’ and thought this Flyboard is going to inspire the most incredible watersport the world has ever seen…how can I be a part of it? My conclusion was to start H2RO Magazine and that decision has allowed me to add yet another incredibly special moment to my list… my official adoption into the Flyboard Family.
During the 2013 Flyboard World Cup in Doha, Qatar I along with my magazine were instantly embraced and included as part of the global Flyboard Family. People that I had only interacted with online transformed into best friends and my passion for our sport and our community grew exponentially. The pledges of support to grow FM and praise for my initial work filled me with such joy that I have returned home from Qatar more driven and inspired than ever before.
So… here are just a few of the things we’ll be working to bring to FM in the coming months. Each Pro Flyboarder will have their own individual profile page. This is something we have already begun but now with great video footage of 70+ flyers from the World Championship each of these pages will have great content. Trick names… I am going to work with the Flyboard Family Facebook group to attach unique names to the various tricks currently being performed. Once we have consensus we’ll bring these trick names to a list on H2RO Magazine for public reference. We’ll also be dissecting certain tricks starting with the big double back flip. Now that I can compile numerous attempts by a number of different riders we should start to be able to see what elements are necessary to successfully land this trick and the interesting variations each flyer employs when executing it. I also spoke with many of the Pro’s at this year’s World Championship and though some of our conversation was event specific I believe that these interviews will help you get to know these riders a little better and provide insights as to how this sport is evolving.
From the 2012 World Cup to the 2013 event our sport has transformed itself in every way and as flyers continue to practice with the EMK on a dual impeller the tricks will only get bigger and more extreme. The mainstream awaits and people’s minds will be blown! An extreme sport that can range from being gentle, safe and fun for everyone to try into insane, heart-pounding, and adrenaline soaked action when the Pros boot up… that’s a formula for success…
that’s why we’ll Flyboard Forever!
