Hydroflight World Championship 2019
We had a chance to sit down with the managing director of Prowatercross and ask a few questions about the World Championship in Naples Florida.
H2RO: We know you have been working hard on competitions and we are excited to hear what is in store for the 2019 Hydroflight World Championship .
Jason: Thank you, we are excited. We are finishing up the details on the new format. The rules of competition will remain the same. The format change is something the athletes wanted for long time, and we’re happy to give it to them.
H2RO: That’s great to hear, anything else new and exciting.
Jason: Yes plenty, Our Night Flight competition will have a new location, with a large crowd.
X-Jets just sent us the couplers required for their products, now anyone can just bring a board and hook up to a competition-ready 300 seadoo.
H2RO: That’s great to hear about the X jet coupler. The competitions need the support of the manufacturers. Who is signed up already?
Jason: We have a few people, I haven’t looked recently. But today I got a message from our friend Robert from Poland, team Robertson is coming.
H2RO: Awesome! We love Robert and his entire team. Who else is coming? What about Judges?
Jason: We have our Russian masseuse Aliya coming with her friend Kate who will be taking pictures. Jill Helton will also be on staff, taking our professional photographs.
I had this idea for judging that has gained a lot of traction. Similar to “session one” where the athletes judge themselves. We have vets who have agreed to judge the Comp, then we will get five Pros judge the vets. What this does is give us great quality judges and open up more budget for prizes. I’m working hard every day to increase the prize money, I know it is very important to our young pros.
H2RO: It sounds great Jason, keep up the good work. Don’t forget to go live for us, like you did in Erie Pennsylvania.
Jason: For sure!
I will be going live for prowatercross FB this weekend at Brave the Wave. My friend Ryan Kulka and I are putting on a jet ski/hydroflight competition this weekend. The jet ski was open to all but the Hydroflight was invite only. We have Chris, Casey, Travis, Austin and Matt battling it out this Saturday. Ryan will be the first outside promoter to use the Pro watercross sanctioning body and insurance for a hydroflight comp.
Hopefully we’ll see more of that in the future.
H2RO: That all sounds great.Thank you for your time today and we wish you the best of luck!
Jason: You’re welcome and thank you for all you do for the sport.
