Final MotoSurf World Cup Race of 2017
JetSurf enthusiasts were focused on the MotoSurf World Cup race going down in Naples, Florida on Nov 3-5, 2017. Naples was the fifth and final MotoSurf race of the season. The first four stops on this year’s MotoSurf Grand Prix circuit were epic races in France, Russia, Great Britain and the Czech Republic each continuing to build great momentum around this young sport.
Jakub Kornfeil Wins MotoSurf Grand Prix Championship for Second Time
From 4th to 1st, that was the incredible move Jakub Kornfeil was able to pull during the final stop of the 2017 MotoSurf Grand Prix season.
There were four JetSurf pros in the men’s class that were still in the running for the championship crown going into Naples. Sebastian Kubinec was the points leader going in, the always dangerous and defending champion Lukas Zahorsky, JetSurf USA rep Petr Vencovsky and the amazingly fast Jakub Kornfeil.
Kubinec was flying in Qualifying and finished first ahead of Kornfeil and Zahorsky. Going into the heats all were confident and dominated their groups. It was wide open until the very end on the men’s side and the first final run went once again to Kubinec with Zahorsky in second and Kornfeil in third. For Kubinec his championship dream was in his sights but in the second run Kornfeil found his form and grasped the victory, Zahorsky was once again second and Kubinec third. It took a close review of the points to identify a first in MotoSurf GP history which was having two riders tied Kornfeil and Kubinec. The Championship ultimately went to Kornfeil as he had one more victory during the 2017 season than Kubrinec. This was Jakub Kornfeil’s second MotoSurf Grand Prix title.
Martina Bravencova wins the MotoSurf Grand Prix Championship – Ladies Division
Reigning champion Aneta Sacherova was not out of the running going into Naples against the current leader Martina Bravencova. However it was Bravencova who sent a strong message during the Qualifying Round finishing first with Sacherova in second and 16 year old Klara Sitarova surprising the field finishing in 3rd.
The heats were no different for Bravencova and Sacherova as they were dominant and ripped through to the finals.
In the Ladies finals it was Bravencova who raced flawlessly opening up a comfortable lead in both races. She surfed fast and clean proving this year was her year. Sacherova finished second in both final races but it was rookie Anya Colley who, in only her third World Cup race, finished 3rd and 4th in the finals to claim her first ever podium appearance.
MotoSurf World Cup in Naples Florida
Joining the Flyboard National Tour and Pro Watercross World Championship events for the first time the MotoSurf World Cup race enjoyed the beautiful venue at Sugden Regional Park. The top MotoSurfers in the world converged on West Florida battling for the available 216 points. Jakub Kornfeil in dramatic fashion surfed his way from fourth to first place and took the crown.
Representing JetSurf USA on home waters was Petr Vencovsky, who was also riding a wave of excitement around the launch of the first ever JetSurf USA Factory Shop. On November 1, at 11:11am (the repetitive ones signifying the industry position JetSurf currently holds #1) Cutting the orange ribbon along with Vencovsky was JetSurf CEO Martin Sula in front of happy customers, employees and fans. JetSurf is poised to take over the USA from this new position in Miami, Florida as they prepare for their cross-country JetSurf Mobile Academy Training beginning in 2018. Learn more at JetSurf USA
MotoSurf World Cup Race – Women’s Division
Woman’s motosurfing has been dominated this year by two amazing athletes, Martina Bravencová who holds a fifty point lead going into the final event and Aneta Šacherová who sits in second. Renata Kelemenová rounds out a top three that has distanced themselves from the rest of the field. That being said competitors like Ale Rivas and Anya Colley are always a threat to pull points away from the top racers.
